EMCOG MISSION STATEMENT
The East Michigan Council of Governments (EMCOG) provides a regional forum to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, and to develop recommendations and plans to address those issues. All of this in hopes of leading to a common goal of improving the quality of life for the residents of the east central region of Michigan.
EMCOG is directly responsible for a variety of federal, state and local planning and project implementation programs including but limited to Coastal Zone, Solid Waste, Hazard Mitigation, Transportation including Heritage Routes, Asset Management PASER data collection and local technical assistance planning (Master Plans, Recreation plans, etc). As the designated Economic Development District, EMCOG continues to maintain required certifications and planning documents to qualify the region for federal and state funding. Other major areas of responsibility include: administration of a USDOC/EDA Revolving Loan Fund and Intergovernmental project review, et al.
