The Michigan Department of Natural Resources requires that communities have a MDNR-approved recreation plan in order to be eligible to apply for DNR Recreation grant funds. Recreation plans are valid for a five-year period. EMCOG staff works with local communities interested in completing a recreation plan as well as assisting in grant applications. EMCOG staff will work with local elected officials, plan commissions, and recreation boards in these processes.
